Port St Lucie Florida | Top Five Parks!

Video:

I am a father of four beautiful children (all my wife's fault of course).  Keeping them entertained is a daily task.  Finding good playgrounds around town can be a chore, especially if you're new to town.  Port St Lucie has a ton of great parks all over the city, but these are five in particular that we like.  In no particular order:

Sportsman's Park | Sportsman's Park West

These parks are located across the street from one another.  Sportman's Park is located at 201 NW Prima Vista Blvd Port St Lucie, FL 34983.  Sportman's Park West is located at 220 Irving Street Port St Lucie, FL 34983.

This park was one that I used to go to when I was a kid growing up in Port St Lucie.  It is home to the Port St Lucie National Little League, where my kids have played Tee Ball the last couple years, and I have been there coach.  At Sportman's Park west there is a football field called RD McCorkle Field.  It is home to the youth football league PSLAA.  I played football for two years there and have coached my oldest son when he played.  There is also a walking/running track if you want to go there for your exercise or training.

Sportsman's Park and Sportsman's Park West amenities include:

  • Great playground with a separate section for younger kids.  Mulch for the ground.
  • Pavilions for parties that can be reserved
  • Multiple baseball fields
  • Tennis Courts
  • Basketball Courts
  • Football Field (SPW)
  • Walking Running / Track (SPW)

Lyngate Park | Lyngate Dog Park

Lyngate Park is one of the City's oldest parks.  The park is located at 1301 SE Lyngate Drive Port Saint Lucie, FL 34952.

The park is home to the Port Saint Lucie American Little League and it is a robust campus overall.  When I first moved to Port Saint Lucie in the early 1980's this was one of the first parks that I went to since we moved to the Rivergate area.  Over the years, it has grown into quite a great park for all ages.  It now has:

  • Brand new playground equipment for big and small kids with rubber padding ground.  NO MULCH! 🙂
  • Multiple baseball fields
  • A dog park for small, medium and large dogs
  • Pavilions for parties that can be reserved
  • Beach volleyball
  • Racquetball
  • Basketball
  • Tennis courts

River Park Marina Boat Ramp and Playground

river park marina st lucie county

The River Park Marina is a park, pavilion and boat ramp launch that is maintained and managed by St Lucie County.  It is located at 500 E Prima Vista Blvd Port St Lucie, FL 34983.

I like the park for the playground which my kids enjoy.  It is shaped like a pirate ship and it overlooks the St Lucie River.  It is a great view don't get me wrong, but this park is more for older kids who can focus on the playground.  Because there is NO FENCE TO THE WATER!  So beware.  We like how it has awnings for the sun, a fun playground shape as the ship and a rubber floor vs mulch.

The total list of amenities that this park offers are:

  • Birding
  • Boat ramp
  • Canoe Access
  • Fishing
  • Grills
  • Hiking Trails
  • Observation Areas
  • Pavilions
  • Picnic Tables
  • Piers/Docks
  • Playground
  • Boat Rental

McChesney Park

McChesney Park is located in the St Lucie West Area.  It is located at 1585 SW Cashmere Blvd Port St Lucie, FL 34986.

We like this park for several reasons.  My kids like it because it has a multi sided climbing wall and my kids LOVE to climb!  We like it as parents because it is totally fenced in and is good for small and older kids alike.  The campus itself is a major soccer hub in the city.  It is home to Mako Soccer and there are a lot of great facilities year round for soccer for all ages.  The total list of amenities offered at this park are:

  • Pavilions
  • Playground with great climbing wall
  • Fenced in!
  • Soccer Fields

Jessica Clinton Community Park

Jessica Clinton Community Park is located in the Southbend area of the city.  The park was named after a local high school student Jessica Clinton who died tragically at the age of 17 of an undetected heart condition called Mitral Valve Prolapse.  You can find out more about the Jessica Clinton Foundation Here.

This park is located at 3222 SE Southbend Blvd Port Saint Lucie, FL 34984.

We like the park because it has an even bigger climbing playground.  You can see my sons Logan and Connor here enjoying that.  They do love to climb!  We also took them to Happy Feet Soccer when they were 3 years old.  It was fun for a little bit, but the park has virtually no fence and my son's were prone to wandering, lol.  So I chased them around the park for most of soccer practice.  Such is toddler life!  My oldest son Alex and I always remember that when passing this park.

Some of the amenities that Jessica Clinton Community Park include:

  • Basketball Court
  • Fitness Station
  • Garden Area
  • Nature Trail
  • Open-Space
  • Pavilion
  • Playground
  • Tennis Court
  • Baseball/Softball Fields

Conclusion

The City of Port St Lucie truly is a City For All Ages.  The parks and all the amenities they offer are a prime example of that.  From kid playgrounds, to hiking trails, to baseball fields for adult softball leagues, the Parks of Port Saint Lucie are great for all ages.  I look forward to seeing you there soon!
